Coke or Pop?

Pat had a great link on his site (thehannons.net) to a site that tracks the usage of “coke”, “pop”, or “soda”… check out the great map of county by county data, and you can also enter your preference on their site at www.popvssoda.com. Great stuff!

And if you’re really into this type of thing, there’s a link there to a Dialect Survey developed by some Harvard professors that has a lot of different pronunciation and term comparisons.

April and May pictures are up!

I know you’ve been waiting for it, well here they are… April and May pictures are up.

It’s amazing how fast Jeremiah is growing. He was almost 14 pounds at his last appointment a couple of weeks ago, and he has to be about 15 pounds now. We’re about to move him to size 3 diapers as soon as the size 2 run out. The diapers McKenna is wearing at night are size 4 (though she’s ready to move up as well). And he’s not fat, as you can tell in the pictures, he’s just a growing boy!

He’s gotten very smiley in the past couple of weeks. McKenna really enjoys it when she can get him to smile. She’s definitely grown into the “big sister” role, and is also becoming very interested in “helping” Amy mop the floor (half a swiffer mop with a paper towel on the bottom) and putting dishes away from the dishwasher.

He's a growing boy…

Jeremiah had his one-month checkup yesterday. He’s clocking in at 12 lbs heavy and 23 inches long. 90th percentile on everything, and at his last checkup (at 1 week old) he was in the 60th percentile, so he’s doing good.

He’s also been extremely fussy in the evenings. The doctor said that it’s probably colic since it’s associated with a good bit of gas (and whew, it’s stinky!). Sometimes the dryer is the only thing that works. At least it’s helping us keep up with our laundry…

Updates…

Well, we expected it to happen soon… Jeremiah turned over from his stomach to his back today! Four times in a row, so we know he wasn’t just lucky! He nearly did it when he was just a couple of days old, but we didn’t know how long it’d take for him to do it for real. McKenna went the other way first (back to stomach), but still didn’t do that for months. Jeremiah has a lot more strength in his arms, legs, and neck than we remember McKenna having at this age.

And to try to keep things updated, check out the new album for March 2004.

And some of you have still not gotten some pictures to me that you’ve taken of Jeremiah and/or McKenna… get those to me soon so I can add them in as well!

McKenna's Adjustment

Nana and Pop took care of McKenna while we were at the hospital, and basically over the weekend while we adjusted, and as we had to take Jeremiah back to the hospital Saturday night to run some more tests.

I had expected that McKenna would require some adjustment to Jeremiah (“baby brother” as she typically calls him), but in fact she’s had to adjust to going without Nana… she’s totally cool with Jeremiah. But she keeps asking, “where’d the Nana go?”

And mom tells me that it’s just relative, but McKenna definitely had a growth spurt while she was staying with Nana and Pop. Her clothes fit different, and her legs, feet, and hands are noticeably bigger. And she’s heavier!

Announcing Jeremiah Curtis Mooney

We’re proud to announce the birth of our son, Jeremiah Curtis. He was born March 11th, 2004, at 12:03 pm and weighed 8lbs, 5 oz. We know we’re biased, but he’s incredibly cute! If you haven’t seen the pictures yet, check them out! We’ll be updating pictures occasionally.
