Though the waiting or walking through these difficult times is tough His glory is worth every bit of it! Our Lord Jesus Christ is worth the waiting. Love you brother!

Actually, my thoughts were more on the non-physical than the physical... that probably wasn't clear enough. But again, the Lord cares more for what is inside (the healing we need in our spirit) than for what is outside (the healing we need in our bodies).

Also, I've actually become convinced that when Paul referred to his "thorn in the flesh" he was speaking of an individual who was trying to undo his work by visiting churches and imposing circumcision... the phrase was an old hebrew phrase for an adversary. Though that's a topic for another day.

Great post Derek,

I think you're right about the legal aspect of God's revelation. The LORD I think was pointing out that they missed the point of the law. The law points us to love our neighbor, but the experts had obscured the law with minute picayune rules added on top.

I agree with God's healing generally, but there are faithful followers of Christ who have to endure some debilitating condition, kind of like a thorn in the flesh. But I agree that God wants to bring complete healing to us, especially his forgiveness.

I agree with you about prayer. We often want to give up in prayer. We lose heart. It takes God's power to persevere in prayer if we are convinced that something is God's will. Perhaps the difficulty comes when we aren't sure if something we're praying for is God's will or not.

Thanks for sharing this Derek. I needed to hear this. I am reminded of when Phillip went to Nathaniel and told him we found the Messiah and He is from Nazareth and he replied can anything good come from there. Phillip's reply was "Come and See". Another place in scripture it says Taste and See that the Lord is good. He is our all in everything.

Yeah, there'd be little point in me apologizing for not posting. In any case, I'm not really sorry about it. :) Basically, I just have two criteria for whether or not to make something a blog post - if it's (a) something longer than would fit in a Facebook status, or (b) something I'd want to refer to later. This fit the first category.

Frank writes a lot about a church taking a significant amount of time with no instruments (he says at least a year) in Finding Organic Church. That book has a ton of practical stuff, but I can personally testify to the benefits of it.

Hey look, you have a blog still! I'm a big fan of the "post something like there was no gap of time" approach instead of the "apologize for not posting more often" approach.

Very cool about the song. Gina was telling us about how you do the songs A Capella to popular song tunes to prevent the musically inclined from being the worship leaders. Very good idea.

Hope you guys are doing well.

That was awesome. And they did it with no prompting. They weren't given a songbook and told to go and sing. They just did it. Might have even been more awesome than the strawberry pie!

I'm the one that lost our 15 year old cat in November and Odie our cat that looked like your Odie was our survivor. Our poor sweet Odie passed away on Thursday and as you can imagine, we are heart broken. It doesn't get easier, does it. Like the poster on July 17, I searched for Odie the cat and forgot I already posted when our other cat died.

I just received a birthday card in the mail with a beautiful cat on the front saying "There are two kinds of people in the world....... on the inside it said....Cat people and Idiots." I'm going to miss my boy Odie.
